The event arose from a conversation between Pat Wright, one of the Perth artists who exhibits at EXPO ART, and Verna Harding. Pat told Verna that her sister in law Irene was part of a fabulous orchestra in Perth and would it not be great to have them come and play in Williams. Well the brain matter got moving and Verna approached me to see if the CRC would get involved.
After scratching my head and lights bulbs igniting in several others, we thought playing in a shearing shed would be a beautiful and iconic way to represent both worlds in the one place. The SSSO has played in some unusual venues (given good acoustics – one being a plane hangar) so this was a “NO BRAINER”.
Well the idea has gained momentum and we are very pleased to say that a fabulous group of volunteers in Williams has been busy working their way through all the needed tasks of putting on such an event and the SSSO is busy in Perth rehearsing a breath-taking repertoire - the event is on Saturday 30 July 2016!
Marketing has commenced with posters, Facebook posts, scheduled radio interviews and editorials in papers (such as this one). Give us a thought when you hear or see something.
Tickets are on sale on Friday 10 June at the Williams CRC starting at 9am. Cost is $60 per person. Please call 98851378 or pop in directly.
