The latest from Dumbleyung Men’s Shed

Two members of the Dumbleyung Men’s Shed, Ray Richards and Bill Kitson, attended the annual Gallagher WA Men’s Shed conference, on Thursday October 25 at the Cannington Exhibition Centre. Over 190 people attended the annual event with Men’s Sheds from across the state represented.

With a full day of guest speakers, Ray and Bill enjoyed listening to numerous people though their highlight was hearing from His Excellency the Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia and Mayor of the Town of Mosman Park, Brett Pollock. Other guest speakers included Owen Catto of Regional Men’s Health, Professor Len Collard of the University of WA and Mark Folkard MLA, representing Hon Simone McGurk MLA, Minister for Community Services.

With many members across the state attending, we were fortunate to mingle and network with other ‘sheds’ including Williams, Albany and Wyalkatchem – sharing ideas and stories with one another. Overall, a great opportunity to network, bringing back to Dumbleyung new ideas, sharing stories of how other ‘sheds’ work and all the most recent news from Men’s Shed WA!

What’s new at the Dumbleyung Men’s Shed?
There is a new meeting day. The Dumbleyung Men’s Shed now meet every Tuesday from 9am til 12 noon. Stay the whole time or just come for a cuppa. Men of all ages are welcome to come along.

An initiative of the Dumbleyung Events Committee (DEC), the Men’s Shed are currently making pallet furniture for the upcoming Taste of Dumbleyung to be held on Saturday April 6, 2019. The pallet tables and chairs will be owned by the Men’s Shed and available to hire out to community/private functions. Approximately, 15 to 20 tables will be made with 4 chairs per table (see images).

Need some fencing equipment? Strainer posts are still available to purchase through the Men’s Shed and are only $10 each. Each post is 8ft long. Please contact Graham Wilson if you’d like to purchase or for any other information on 0428 492 635.
