After our unseasonal rain earlier this year more birds have found their way to Dumbleyung! A great spot for our avid bird watching community members is to travel to Damper Flat Road, turn off the Nyabing Road (approximately about 5 kms from Dumbleyung), not far from here there is a bi pass where the salt pond has encroached over the road. Most recently this section of water has had five red necked avocet, pair of swans with six fluffy cygnets, three Australasian grebe and three white faced heron (with another five or more on water further along the road). Plenty of ducks have also been seen here, plus! White fronted chats, babblers, black faced cuckoo shrike and a restless flycatcher were also seen amongst the bush.
Definitely worth a drive the next time you’re looking for something to do in our Shire!
