The curtains opened to showcase a carefully edited film of Donald Campbell’s last race on Lake Coniston in 1967 (filmed edited by local and Dumbleyung Theatre Club member John Forrest). This completely silenced the Dumbleyung Town Hall, leaving some to ponder if the comical advertising was a furphy! But the laughs ensued with a plethora of town gossip, picnic parties at Pussycat Hill and bikini baking warfare as the community of Dumbleyung banded together to support Donald Campbell’s dream of breaking the World Water Speed record.
Over 130 people attended the production Three Weeks in December, who later joined the cast and crew to celebrate the Show and dance the night away to Lake Grace Band Bale Out. It was a night that our Directors Michele Brown and Tara Cook can only be proud of and have firmly cemented in our history books!
There are many people and organisations the Dumbleyung Theatre Club wish to thank whose support ensured this Production would have its moment of perfection. Thank you to the Shire of Dumbleyung, Dumbleyung CRC, Dumbleyung Men’s Shed, Dumbleyung Ag Supplies, Dumbleyung District Club, Dumbleyung Garden Club, Dumbleyung General Store, The GODI, Along came Henry, Olde Village Wares, Sniptrix, That Pink Lady, Michelle Harris and her team at Tasty Treats, The Gnowangerup District High School, Bale Out, and to our wonderful audience who came from near, far (Meekatharra) and wide (Ravensthorpe), thank you for your support in making Three Weeks in December a resounding success.
