National Reconciliation Week 2017National Reconciliation Week (NRW) runs annually from 27 May – 3 June. These dates mark two milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey: the 1967 referendum and the historic Mabo decision, respectively. In 2017, we reflect on two significant anniversaries in Australia’s reconciliation journey – 50 years since the 1967 referendum, and 25 years since the historic Mabo decision. The theme for #NRW2017 is ‘Let’s Take the Next Steps.’ Amongst the list of events there is the Kulin Flag Pole Dedication on Friday June 2nd. This will be held form 10.30am – 11.30am at 38 Johnston Street, Kulin. It will consist of adding a third flag pole at the Shire of Kulin administration building for the Indigenous flag as part of Reconciliation Week. The event will include Welcome to Country and presentation by Grant Riley, an Art Exhibition by Grant and Anne Riley of Wuddi Cultural Centre, and morning tea.
