WA Farmers Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Feedback Welcome!Changes in the Heavy Vehicle Accreditation are being discussed at the next CGS Zone of WAFarmers meeting on July 11th in Katanning. The following motion has been put forward and I would appreciate ANY feedback from members and the general public – Sue McDougall 98235035 email: sueemcd@bigpond.com or you could contact our EO of Policy, Grady Powell directly at gradypowell@wafaremrs.org.au The background received reads: The motion below is aimed to exclude primary producers from current Heavy Vehicle accreditation process currently in place with Main Roads. Rather than the current annual checks, it will be replaced with checks that occur every 100,000km or 4 years, whichever comes first. This is a result of primary producers not using their Heavy Vehicles as regularly as the general transport industry. The motion recognises that primary producers do not use their machinery as regularly due to the seasonal nature of our industry, as such, the wear and tear on our machinery is not comparable with other transport sectors. The new scheme, if implemented, will be more in-line with the current needs and demands of the agricultural industry. MOTION: All agricultural producers operating R.A.V.s up to and including network 7 be excluded from the H.V. accreditation scheme. It be replaced with a 100,000 km or 4 yearly (whichever comes first) roadworthy inspection to be carried out at an approved H.V. inspection centre & when passed a copy forwarded to Department of Transport prior to the said combination being issued. |
