A big thank you!
I wish to extend a personal ‘thank you’ to all the people of Dumbleyung and Kukerin who offered assistance with the WAFarmers Open Meeting for Live sheep Export which was originally scheduled for Dumbleyung on July 20th. With such short notice, it was reassuring to have offers of help for the venue, stage, chairs, catering, airfield transport, publicity and all the rest.
You are a great community.
When anticipated numbers and weather outgrew the capacity to hold people under cover at Dumbleyung, the meeting was moved to the Katanning Leisure Centre. With 800 seats occupied and hundreds standing, it was a fantastic roll up of concerned farmers and business people involved in the live sheep industry.
Thank you to all who attended and supported the meeting. The message of personal cost needs to be heard. It was heard at the meeting but media in most cases it seems chose to report the politicians. If you wish to support the trade - write letters, send emails, donate funds. If you need assistance with any of this, contact WAFarmers Head Office or me.
Staff and committee of the Dumbleyung CRC along with community members and volunteers contribute to the weekly Quack Chat Newsletter.
